Curriculum & Philosophy

At Snowy Sprouts Nature School, learning grows naturally from the world around us.
We offer nature-based playgroups for 1–6 year olds and will soon introduce holiday workshops for primary-aged children, all inspired by the Forest School philosophy.

We believe children learn best through hands-on experiences, curiosity, and connection to nature. Every puddle, leaf, and log becomes part of their learning journey.

🌼 Child-centred – Children follow their curiosity and learn through exploration and play.
✨Holistic – Supporting social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
🏡 Community-connected – Rooted in local environment, stories, and care for Country.

Learning Spaces at Snowy Sprouts

Each Snowy Sprouts session is set up with thoughtfully designed spaces that invite open-ended play, discovery, and connection.
Children are free to move between areas as their curiosity leads, allowing for self-directed learning and unhurried exploration.

Water & Sensory Play

Splashing, pouring, scooping, and mixing,  our water and sensory space is a place for hands-on learning and joy. Children explore cause and effect, volume, and flow while engaging all their senses. Expect muddy puddles, buckets, and giggles!

Tool & Building Area

In our supervised tool station, children safely use real tools like hammers, saws, and peelers. They build, create, and problem-solve while developing fine motor skills, coordination, and confidence. Safety, respect, and teamwork are always at the heart of this space.

Art & Craft

This is where creativity blooms! Using leaves, petals, sticks, clay, and other natural materials, children make art inspired by the season. Our art area encourages expression, focus, and appreciation for nature’s colours and textures.

Quiet & Reflection Space

A calm nook under the trees where children can rest, read, listen to stories, or simply observe the world around them. This gentle space supports mindfulness, emotional regulation, and connection to self and surroundings.

Adventure Zone

An open area for climbing, balancing, running, and building cubbies. Here, children develop gross motor skills, spatial awareness, and confidence through natural movement and play. Risk-taking is supported safely, encouraging resilience and courage.

Gathering Circle

Our communal gathering space  where we come together for songs, stories, gratitude, and sharing. Rooted in rhythm and ritual, this space nurtures belonging, listening, and community connection.

Each area offers opportunities for learning through choice, imagination, and play, all connected by the Forest School principles of curiosity, respect, and growth.
